Do you guys remember my post about me, making my own feminine napkins? In the last paragraph, I asked you, whether or not you happened to have some ideas in making comfortable, earth-friendly, and usable (I actually meant ‘re-usable’), DIY feminine napkins.
Well, I’ve got the answers, people. Thanks to Denise, the BlogHer Community Manager, for the gorgeous links
I cross-posted the exact same post on my other blog on BlogHer, and there’s where I got these amazing sources to start making your very own feminine napkins or sanitary pads, for the sake of the Earth, your health, and your money, of course:
- Homemade Sanitary Pads – Hillbilly Housewife
Maggie, the writer of the article, gives step-by-step instructions on how to create your very own cloth menstrual pads using old and/or new flannels (detailed pictures are included), including the instructions for washing and maintenance. If you’re not a sewing-person just like me, she also writes a no-sew alternative (which I’ve been using now every month). Oh, and before she wraps up her article, Maggie even tells why she after all converted from ‘conventional’ pads to a more earth-friendly ones. A great insight for all of us, women.
- How to Make Sanitary Napkins – eHow
A brief step-by-step instruction in making sanitary napkins, but no pictures to complement. However, it’s still pretty handy.
- Cloth pads – Sew Green
Similar with the previous two, yet you can see that the pads made here are more ‘perfect’ (instead of safety pins, the writer uses buttons). As handy as the above articles. Highly recommended.
With a big amount of conventional feminine napkins being left at landfills, it is absolutely no good news for Mother Earth. So, from now on, girls, let’s change, baby step by baby step.
